Apple will embrace the mid-range mobile phone market

On Monday, Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Whitmore told his clients to expect Apple to release two iPhones, one of which would be an affordable device to help Apple grab a part of the pre-paid mobile market share. But BMO Capital analyst Keith Bachman says Apple is all about making exciting high-end devices, and he doesn't see them releasing a low-end phone this year. Bachman believes that AT&T's re-marketed iPhone 3GS will be the phone Apple uses to hook budget-conscious consumers.
Affordable iPhone
Other Business News:
In March, reports did surface that Apple COO Tim Cook said Apple was looking at the prepaid market and doesn’t want its products to be “just for the rich." Plus recent rumors have supported Apple releasing either the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 in 2011. So is it crazy to believe that Apple will break tradition and announce two devices this year?
Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Whitmore thinks Apple should and will embrace the mid-range/pre-paid mobile phone market in 2011. Two-thirds of the 1.5 billion mobile customers worldwide are pre-paid users, and Whitmore believes Apple will try to reach these customers by releasing an unlocked iPhone priced between $300 and $500. Perhaps the iPhone 4S?
“With Nokia and RIMM struggling,” Whitmore said, “the time is right for Apple to aggressively penetrate the mid range smart-phone market to dramatically expand its market share.”

Windows Phone Facebook App was released to developers

Hot on the heels of the Mango beta being put into developers eager hands today (which has deep Facebook integration), Microsoft has made available a sizeable update to it's Facebook application on the platform.
The update finally brings push notifications to the platform, and seems to be much more responsive than previous versions. This means that when a notification is triggered on the Facebook website, that the user will be notified immediately on Windows Phone, rather than having to actually open the app to find out what has happened. The push notification support allows the user to select which notifications they want to use it for, such as comments or photo tags, and disable ones that may be quite noisy.

On top of push support, the application now requests "sensor" access as well as "phone identity," though it is not clear what this is for.
Having push notifications is being warmly welcomed by Windows Phone users, and it means that users may not need to actually open the application if they are running Mango, as the platform has built in support for previewing them. Mango is the next major release of Windows Phone OS, and was released to developers that are registered on the App Hub today.
Other Business News:
Is it just me or has it also got a speed update ? The app seems to be as fluid as the UI now. Before it just didn't feel 100% like a tiny jitter when sliding onto the new bit while it was loading. It now goes to it fluid and then loads it.
I have installed the updated version of Facebook client on my WP7 device. But I have a problem: How do I know if an application/ game has been updated? It seems user need to search for the application and see if a new version is available. In iOS, the App Store will automatically notify you that which applications have new version available.

Toshiba Tablet have to go up against the Apple giant

The iPad has been dominating the tablet market for some time now and any new tablet released would have to go up against the Apple giant. The new Toshiba AT 100 better known as the Toshiba Tablet and the Thrive in the US proves that there are other tablets just as good as Apple's iPad.

The AT 100 is powered by a 1Ghz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core CPU, 1 Gb of RAM and has 16 Gb of onboard storage. The display is a stunning 10.1 inches with 1,200 X 800 resolution. It seems par for the course for any Android Honeycomb tablet but the Toshiba Tablet stands out with other unique and smartly designed features.

The Toshiba Tablet may not be the flashiest tablet out there but its utilitarian aesthetic is a perfect fit for its more practicality driven features. It is portable even at 771 grams and is 15 mm thick, not really the thinnest tablet around but it would do for users. You can personalize the Tablet with its interchangeable rubberized back cover that Toshiba sells for $29.95. This handy feature also allows users to swap out the battery. Battery life has long been a contention for tablet users, with the Toshiba Tablet you can now switch batteries if your old one runs out of juice or you can carry two batteries if you're a frequent traveler. Toshiba sells additional 6 cell batteries for 479.95. Very handy, indeed.
    Other Business News:
The Toshiba Tablet also has a full size SD card reader for more storage and a full-sized HDMI port as well as USB ports and audio jacks. There's a docking port for the Toshiba tablet dock. The AT 100 has the Android 3.0 installed but it can be upgraded to a 3.1 version via the Toshiba Service Station App.
Other features include rear and front cameras with 5 mega pixels and 2 mega pixels respectively. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatibility, stereo speakers and microphones. Users who want their tablets to perform like a desktop could attach keyboards and mice via the USB 2.0 port or Bluetooth or you could buy the $89.95 Multi Dock for more connectivity options.
The AT 100 may not be the coolest tablet out on the market but for only $579 it has enough features for entry- level users. This Tablet is perfect for users who want practicality versus design appeal.

HP Government Secure Cloud Services is a dedicated community cloud or G-cloud environment

HP Enterprise Service has launched its Government Secure Cloud Services offering agencies adjustable secure processing capacities that meet their specific requirements.
Data will be held onshore in a certified datacentre environment and accessed via a certified secure government gateway, to comply with Australian government data sovereignty and security laws.
The HP Government Secure Cloud Services is a dedicated community cloud or G-cloud environment that allows government agencies to use technology as required without a large capital expense outlay.

Its features include: a secure processing capacity, delivery by HP Enterprise Services through a Defence Signals Directorate-certified secure gateway and hosted on infrastructure from a Whole of Government datacentre panel provider, availability of server, storage, network and security resources, applications that support critical business functions and HP Converged Infrastructure technology and tools.
HP South-Pacific vice-president of enterprise solutions, Alan Bennett, said, “Government Secure Cloud Services drives a mentality in a series of events which cause interaction with government, which cross the boundaries of the different systems. There is also conversation around the NBN and what that will enable.”

A recent survey conducted by Ovum on the Asia-Pacific business trends of cloud growth showed Australia ranking lower than other countries in the surrounding region – at 33 per cent.
“In the government and financial services sectors, we see data sovereignty, service level agreements, the ability to negotiate contracts, network security and the robustness of the value proposition come up time and time again,” Ovum research director of government practice, Kevin Noonan, said.
He suggested agencies adopt a flexible and cost-effective IT service delivery model to speed implementation time and improve the quality and responsiveness of citizen services without the need for significant new resources.
Ovum expects to see consumption-based and shared delivery models gaining momentum within government agencies, addressing privacy and security are key issues, he said.
HP aims to enable federal or state government agencies to transition from supporting and exploring the cloud to enabling a full range of secure apps and integration.
The company will soon be able to deploy the infrastructure, which will vary from agency to agency and will continue to build up the system over the next three years.

Toshiba Qosmio X770 Laptop supports computer 3D

Inside the newly-released Qosmio X770 sits an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor that runs at 2.9GHz and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 560M graphics card that supports computer 3D.
It also sports 8GB of DDR3 RAM over two separate cards. On the storage end, there's hybrid hard disk and solid state disk system that holds 1.25TB of space over a 500GB Hybrid 4G hard drive that spins at 7200rpm and a slower 750GB SATA drive that spins at 5400rpm.

Having been available in Europe for more than two weeks now, Toshiba’s Qosmio X770 and X770 3D gaming laptops are now bound for the United States. The company today announced the US launch date and pricing for both laptops.
Let’s get started with the Qosmio X770 series. Starting at $1,199, the X770 has a 17.3-inch 1920x1080, a second generation Intel Core i5/i7 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 1TB HDD storage, and a GeForce GTX 560M GPU with 1.5GB RAM. It also has HDMI-out, a multi-card reader, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, WLAN (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 3.0 + HS and Gigabit LAN.
More and more notebooks are now shipping with premium sound systems these days and Toshiba’s latest Qosmios are no different. The company is happily touting the premium harman/kardon speakers and subwoofer that are built into the X770 and X770 3D.
The $1,899.99 X770 3D boasts identical specs for the most part, but it “maxes out the platform even further with a 1.25 terabyte hard drive with Hybrid Drive technology, plus a Blu-ray Disc Rewriteable drive.” Retail availability of the two machines is scheduled for later this month.
On the outside, the X770 fronts a 17.3 inch widescreen display that supports 3D with bundled 3D glasses. A Blu-ray slot lets users watch Blu-rays straight from their notebook.
High quality Harman Kardon speakers and subwoofer are in-built with surround sound support to compliment 3D movies and games.

Apple iPad will be threatened by HP TouchPad and Lenovo ThinkPad

Apple iPad may be the king of the tablet jungle at the moment but rivals are breathing down its neck.
iPad has enjoyed huge success since its launch in 2010, controlling nearly 95 percent of the tablet market. According to analytic firm comScore, the 9.7-inch device accounts for 97 percent of U.S. Internet tablet traffic and nearly 22 percent of all non-PC Internet traffic. In comparison, tablets running on Google's Android OS account for only 2 percent of U.S. Internet tablet traffic and 0.6 percent of non-PC traffic. The difference is massive and the numbers clearly show how the iPad has become the gold standard for tablet.
However, the dominance enjoyed by iPad may be short-lived as its rivals release a slew of devices with one aim - beat iPad.
Currently Samsung Galaxy Tab and RIM BlackBerry Playbook can be considered to be the biggest threat to the iPad even though, in case of a face-off between them, they won't be able to hold a candle to the iPad.
Motorola Xoom, Dell Streak, T-Mobile's G-Slate and Asus Eee Pad are some other tablets that took a crack at the iPad but failed.
So far, the iPad's position looks safe. But for how long?
Analysts believe that the iPad's strength lies in iOS and iTunes. Apple's proprietary mobile operating system iOS, despite its antipathy towards Adobe Flash and inability to perform multitask well, is the most popular tablet OS. And Apple has made sure that their reputation is maintained by pushing out regular OS updates that offer, if nothing else, a better user experience.
Another advantage Apple has over rivals is that the OS updates don’t need to be through the carriers and manufacturers, thereby avoiding critical update delays.
Apple's other strength lies in iTunes. With its vast catalog of apps, music, movies, television episodes, and e-books, iTunes makes sure that people keep coming back for more. Till date, no Apple rival has been able to emulate iTunes' success.
However, things may not remain that way for long with Apple rivals gearing up to launch a slew of tablets that look set to give the iPad a hard time.
Leading the pack is Hewlett-Packard's WebOS-based TouchPad, which will run on the latest Android Honeycomb OS. The TouchPad's design, like the iPad, is clean, simple and sleek.
Like the iPad, the TouchPad has a single home button and built-in around that button is HP Touchstone technology that enables wireless syncing between the TouchPad and other WebOS devices.
The TouchPad boasts of beefy specs like 9.7-inch XGA capacitive multitouch screen (1024x768 resolution display with vibrant 18-bit color), Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU 1.2 GHz processor, virtual keyboard, front-facing 1.3-megapixel webcam for video chat, A-GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, digital compass, gyroscope, Beats Audio and MicrosoftExchange Email support.

Oracle has made 168 infringement claims against Google to on seven patents

Oracle’s patent infringement suit against Google over the Java implementation in Android may be facing a significant setback: of the 21 patents Oracle claims Google is violating, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rejected 17 claims on re-examination. As a result, the judge in the case has asked both Oracle and Google to reduce the number of claims they are making against each other in order to avoid wasting the court’s time on patents that will likely be ruled invalid or uninfringed.
Oracle has not yet indicated how it intends to proceed in the case, but options include appealing the patent re-examination, reducing the number of claims it is making against Google. Earlier this month, Oracle began to describe the damages it aims to collect from Google in the case: one court filing estimates the damages at over $6 billion. Google has disputed the manner in which Oracle arrived at its figures.
Oracle filed suit against Google last year over alleged patent violation in the Java virtual machine used in Android. Google maintains it has done nothing wrong.
Overall, Oracle has made 168 infringement claims against Google to on seven patents. The USPTO’s process is ongoing.
Oracle's case against Google is that it infringed seven of its patents relating to the Java VM and originally it made a total of 168 claims. As well as preparing to battle this out in court, Google requested the US Patent and Trademark Office to re-examine the seven patents involved.
The USPTO has now completed its reexamination of Patent Number 6192476 and dismissed all but four of Oracle's claims. In the case of the other two patents so far re-examined all the claims subject to re-examination were rejected but some of the claims asserted by Oracle were not subject to re-examination. The current tally is that 92% of the re-examined claims have been thrown out. According to Groklaw, the source of these figures, this is:consistent with reexamination stats that have been produced in academic studies showing 90+% of claims being rejected on reexam

    Dell inspiron 1200 battery
    Groklaw continues:
If that stat [92%] holds for the remaining four patents, Oracle will only have about 48 claims out of 168 that survive, and not all of those will be independent claims [NB: A dependent claim that survives is not worth much if its associated independent claim does not survive. The real value in these patents is in their independent claims.
    So Oracle has a dilemma.
Judge Alsup had ordered it to reduce the number of claims to a "triable" number and set that at 3, with the rider that the asserted claims not being tried could not be renewed. When Oracle demurred and argued that it wanted to assert at least one claim per patent the Judge postponed the decision about how many claims to try until the pre-trial conference but also raised the issue of delaying the trial until the patent re-examination was complete.

Microsoft VS IBM In the tech industry by bestlaptopbatteryuk

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, IBM was the tech industry's juggernaut, lording it over the competition, seemingly without breaking much of a sweat. The same was said of Microsoft, which enjoyed similar predominance in the software business for most of the 1980s and 1990s.
Then both companies attracted the attention of the trustbusters and their worlds changed dramatically.
Finding themselves the targets of government antitrust regulators, executives at IBM and Microsoft were forced to spend precious time with lawyers instead of thinking about customers and the competition.
IBM found itself mired in a 13-year antitrust battle with the Justice Department. Starting in 1969, IBM was forced to put 200 attorneys on the job at one point to handle a case that involved 974 witnesses and 104,400 pages of transcripts. The investigation was abandoned by the early 1980s but by then, the rise of the PC clonemakers signaled the tech industry shift away from mainframes to a new market where IBM was just one of many competitors - and not a very good one, at that.
The DOJ and 19 states (along with the District of Columbia) sued Microsoft for allegedly abusing its market heft to stifle competition. Even though that charge was ultimately upheld by an appeals court in 2001, the company got off relatively lightly - some would describe it as a proverbial slap on the wrist - agreeing to a deal that set up a technical committee to make sure Microsoft complied with the terms of a consent decree it signed with the government. But all the while that Microsoft was focusing - understandably so - on staving off the government, upstarts like Google and Salesforce.com were quietly building new Internet businesses that would later rock Microsoft's business.
Paging through their histories, it's now clear that IBM and Microsoft - despite appearing to have weathered their respective battles - never recovered that killer mojo. Now the same questions are bound to get asked about Google, which finds itself the target of a formal antitrust review of its business practices.
    Other Business News:

    Olympus LI-80B battery
For its part, Google says it's played by the rules and was "still unclear exactly" what the government wants - a refrain that sounds eerily reminiscent of similar statements by Big Blue and Microsoft when they first knocked heads with Uncle Sam.
    image
The government investigation is likely going to focus on whether Google abused its dominance of Internet search to spread into other online markets. Rival Internet companies assert that Google manipulates its results to steer users to its own sites and services and bury links to competitors. For its part, Google says the accusations of anti competitive behavior as whining by competitors, not users, who like its services. That has a familiar ring. If Google's management was in the mood, they could use their own search engine to call up nearly word-for-word defenses offered by Microsoft when it first knocked heads with regulators.

Apple has eliminated packaged software of its pro video apps

Apple on Thursday released the latest public build of its Mac OS X operating system, version 10.6.8. Release notes are as follows:
The 10.6.8 update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac, including fixes that:
    - Enhance the Mac App Store to get your Mac ready to upgrade to Mac OS X Lion
    - Resolve an issue that may cause Preview to unexpectedly quit
    - Improve support for IPv6
    - Improve VPN reliability
    - Identify and remove known variants of Mac Defender
After a couple of false alarms triggered by mentions in other Apple software releases, the Mac OS X 10.6.8 update has arrived.

What does Apple say about the 10.6.8 update? There's the obligatory reference to enhancing stability, compatibility and security, but several specific items are called out by the company.
The Mac App Store is updated "to get your Mac ready to upgrade to Mac OS X Lion". Apple doesn't explicitly state what's changed or whether 10.6.8 is a prerequisite for Lion, but that seems a reasonable assumption. One possibility is that the application can now better handle massive downloads such as the approximately 4GB.
IPv6 support has been improved (the new protocol is getting increasing attention as the remaining pool of IPv4 addresses is exhausted), and there are VPN reliability improvements. Support for Kerberos authentication to web proxy servers has been added.
Less esoteric is a fix for an that may cause Preview to unexpectedly quit, and updated protection against the Mac Defender malware. Other changes include support for additional RAW image formats, and corrected time zone data for Lisbon-Portugal. 10.6.8 also includes the Snow Leopard Font Update.
    Other Business News:

    Fujitsu Lifebook T4020 Battery
Apple observed that users disliked switching between apps, so for this release, it brought all applications related to the editorial process into the main program, eliminating the need to switch interfaces or paradigms. The processes for Motion and Compressor however, are sufficiently different to keep them as separate programs, though they are completely interoperable with FCP X. Compressor can be used for media encoding even without FCP X.
Final Cut Express, too, is history. Apple says that given the power, approachability, and affordability of Final Cut Pro X, it should be a great product for Final Cut Express users, as well.
With this release, Apple has eliminated packaged software of its pro video apps. Now, all Final Cut Pro X and companion software is available only from the App Store-no boxes.
Apple says it is working with third-party developers to deliver additional media asset management and automation options to Final Cut Pro X. While at launch, there are no third-party hardware products or plug-ins available, Apple says that such announcements will be forthcoming in the near future. Because of the shift to 64-bit, plug-in vendors have to update their applications and Apple says it is helping to bring them up to speed.

ARM-based notebooks should be more successful

Unnamed sources are reporting that industry heavyweights Samsung, Toshiba, Acer and Asus are currently working on notebooks using ARM-based processors, one of which is a 13-inch solution from Asus using Nvidia's ARM-based Tegra and Google's Android OS.
But the sources also pointed out that ARM-based notebooks sporting an Android OS hit the market a few years back under the "smartbook" name. These essentially tanked because consumers expected the same compatibility and performance seen with traditional laptops. However, this new round of ARM-based notebooks should be more successful given that the processors are multi-core and storage capacities have inflated. And thanks to the beefed up processing capabilities, these notebooks will have an enhanced user interface.
    Other Business News:

    Hp 530 battery
    Dell inspiron 1520 battery
Given that ARM-based chips are usually more energy efficient than x86 solutions provided by Intel and AMD, industry sources believe that this new line of notebooks will actually create a brand new market segment in the IT industry. ARM-based solutions are generally cheaper too, and will likely bring surprisingly low price tags to these notebooks, possibly $299 or less. Then again, with Windows 8 installed, the price points will be substantially steeper than those with Chrome or Ubuntu installed.
A few weeks ago, ARM chief executive officer Tudor Brown said that Microsoft's upcoming Windows 8 OS – which we saw running on ARM-based SoCs back in January – will actually push its technology into 40-percent of the market's netbooks by 2015. He also estimated that ARM will command 85-percent of the tablet market in that same year.
According to Brown, the combination of Windows 8 and ARM-based processors will seemingly take the emphasis off solving heating problems caused by current (Intel) x86 solutions and drive industry innovation, thus resulting in even lighter, cheaper, and longer lasting battery standards.
Thursday industry sources said that the reported ARM-based notebooks from Samsung, Toshiba, Acer and Asus are expected to arrive possibly by the end of 2011 although Windows 8 models won't hit store shelves until 2012.

Toshiba has a good track record when it comes to creating laptops

While the popularity of slim and portable tablets such as the Apple iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 indicate a swing towards smaller computers, Toshiba is looking to buck the trend with the release of its Satellite C670D. This laptop, as with its stable mate the Toshiba Satellite C670, offers a relatively huge 17.3-inch screen, capable of resolutions up to 1600 x 900.
This isn't a laptop that's concerned with being light – either in terms of weight or power. The Toshiba Satellite C670D has been built to offer the power of a desktop PC in the shape of a laptop. Heavy-duty laptops such as the Dell Adamo XPS can cost up to £800, and you can easily spend up to £2,000 on a laptop if you want the fastest performance possible.
The Toshiba Satellite C670D offers fast, but not cutting edge, components to keep the price towards the lower end of the market range. This is a powerful laptop more along the lines of the Packard Bell EasyNote TS13 and Toshiba's own Satellite C660-1G3.
The trick with these lower-end desktop replacement laptops is to offer excellent performance while making careful design decisions. This ensures that the price is kept down, without making compromises that negatively impact the overall quality of the laptop.
    Toshiba satellite c670d
Toshiba has a good track record when it comes to creating laptops that fit these criteria, including the aforementioned Satellite C660-1G3 and the Satellite Pro C660-16N.
Both the specifications and the price look good, but have there been any major corners cut, that aren't readily apparent, to make the Toshiba Satellite C670D an attractive looking purchase? Can the Toshiba Satellite C670D carry on the proud lineage of the Toshiba Satellite range?

    IBM doesn't have a mission-critical transaction platform

IBM has spent $14 billion in just the last five years acquiring analytics and optimization software companies that are vital to its Smarter Planet initiative. It has also talked up the growth and importance of cloud computing. However, where those two trends meet, IBM isn't rushing to move its highly profitable analytics products toward low-cost, on-demand delivery models.

IBM has been on an acquisitions tear ever since 1995, when then-CEO Lou Gerstner purchased Lotus Development. Software and services investments initiated under Gerstner were part of a save-the-company strategy (as detailed in this IBM centennial image gallery), with the idea being to dump low-margin businesses, like DRAM, hard drives, and PCs, and move into higher-margin businesses.
The general strategy remains in place today under CEO Sam Palmisano, even as we've seen different spins on the software strategy. WebSphere got much of the attention in the e-business and SOA eras. Information management rose in importance as companies started grappling with the onslaught of data in the digital era. That led to the deals for Ascential (data integration) and Cognos (BI). The Smarter Planet push of recent years has turned the focus on analytics. Deals have followed with iLog, SPSS, Unica, Coremetrics, Netezza and others.
IBM now has a broad, deep software portfolio that other vendors might envy. But CIOs are increasingly frustrated with having to license, integrate and deploy lots of disparate on-premises software. When most other vendors acquire companies, they integrate the bits and pieces into their applications, such as ERP and CRM systems. That's not as easy for IBM because IT doesn't have a mission-critical transaction platform at the center of its software portfolio.
Online social networking poses new risks and challenges for IT Management.
Address these risks with 7 simple steps.

    Other Business News:

As Steve Mills, IBM's senior vice president and group executive, software and systems, told me, the company has stayed out of ERP, for example, because "for every dollar invested in ERP, there will be five dollars of investment made around that ERP package to get it fully implemented, integrated, scaled and running effectively."
Those five dollars go into hardware, services, and supporting-software like databases, systems management, development tools, and integration software. That's great for IBM's software and services businesses -- both cornerstones of the Gerstner/Palmisano push into higher-margin businesses.
But the game is changing here at the dawn of the cloud computing era. We've heard loud and clear from CIOs that they want agility, flexibility, and an end to complexity and months-long deployment cycles. App vendors are responding by revamping their platforms to speed deployments and ease upgrade cycles (SAP did that with BusinessSuite 7 and Oracle promises as much with Fusion Apps).
To customers embracing software-as-a-service (SaaS) vendors like Salesforce.com, efforts to make on-premises software easier to deploy might seem like a half measure. SaaS lets you do away with the hardware and middleware and software entirely and just tap into applications as a subscription, online. Even Microsoft is moving in this direction, growing quickly in on-demand CRM, promising on-demand ERP (by next year), and getting set to release Office 365 (next week), an on-demand email and collaboration service expected to see adoption among "millions" of customers, according to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

Toshiba Thrive Tablet Delays by bestlaptopbatteryuk

While most of you are already fast asleep and dreaming of new Android devices, we still get more than a few of our overseas brethren making their way onto our site. Which is good for them seeing how this seems to be the place to find most of the “overseas” news that came in throughout the day. That’s right, it’s the Android Overload. Your one stop place to shop for all the news that couldn’t make it to our front page but still needed to heard none the less.

It is said that bullet trains in Japan need to run on schedule all the time, and being just a few seconds late might cause the driver to experience unnecessary stress. Well, delays in transportation might not be as forgivable as a delay in a device launch, which we will focus on the latter today. Toshiba’s Regza AT300 tablet has been announced to miss its expected June arrival date, and the new number on your calendar which you should mark would be later this July instead.

It seems that the 10.1″ Japan-only tablet will ship with Android 3.1 Honeycomb, which means it will be updated to the latest tablet-optimized Android operating system so that you need not be left gasping and waiting for a new update to take advantage of all its features. As for the hardware, don’t expect the delay to cram in additional items – you will still be greeted with Tegra 2, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, full-sized HDMI and USB ports right out of the box.
Just in case this looks familiar, that is because the Toshiba Thrive is the US equivalent – where it too, will ship with Android Honeycomb.
Schedule for the end of this month, the AT300/23C has now been cancelled and replace by the AT300/24C and schedule to hit store shelves in Japan at the end of July. Both the AT300/23C and AT300/24C comes with the same hardware: Tegra 2, 16GB of Internal Memory, 10.1” 1280×800 screen, but will now comes pre-loaded with Android 3.1.
