Sony Cyber-shot TX55 easy to capture the moment with DSLR-style still photos

Although I’ve never been a huge fan of the Cybershot line, it’s interesting to see how much tech Sony has been dumping into these things of late. For example, this $350 camera shoots full 1080i videoand 12-megapixel stills at exactly the same time with no interruption.
It has 5X optical zoom and some sort of 16-megapixel 10X digital zoom and can also shoot in 3D. Panoramas are easy and massive at 42 megapixels. It will be available in September.
I’d love to see the final quality that comes out of this slim shooter and, while I’m sure it’s technically impressive, I’d worry wee bit about overkill.
Two new Cyber-shot cameras from Sony make it easy to capture the moment with DSLR-style still photos, Full HD video and amazing 3D images.
The Cyber-shot TX55 and WX30 both feature a 16.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and new ‘By Pixel Super Resolution’ technology that boosts zoom range to 10x without quality loss at the image sensor’s maximum resolution (16.2 million pixels). The two easy-to-use models also mark a Cyber-shot first with the new Picture Effect mode that broadens artistic possibilities with no editing software needed.

Cyber-shot TX55

Just 12.2mm slim, the Cyber-shot TX55 is the world’s thinnest camera that captures Full HD AVCHD video clips as well as 16.2 megapixel still images. It also shoots super-detailed panoramas with 42.9 megapixel resolution, 3D Sweep Panorama and 3D Still Image to enjoy on your 3D TV3. The camera’s back panel is dominated by a super-size 8.3cm / 3.3-inch Xtra Fine OLED wide touchscreen: it is perfect for showing off your photos and movie clips with incredible detail.
Enabling its incredible slimness, the TX55 is the first Cyber-shot camera that includes a slot to accept Memory Stick Micro (M2) and microSD/SDHC flash memory cards. Sony offers a choice of ultra-compact, high quality media in capacities up to 16GB (newly introduced Memory Stick Micro (Mark2), ideal for AVCHD video shooting) / 16GB (microSDHC).
Super-compact and sleekly curvaceous, the Cyber-shot WX30 offers an equally tempting range of imaging options for stills, Full HD video and 3D shooting. It is also the first-ever Cyber-shot WX series model that features a spacious 7.5cm (3”) Xtra Fine LCD wide touch screen for beautifully simple fingertip operation.

Each camera features a highly sensitive Exmor R CMOS sensor with 16.2 effective megapixels resolution. Whether you are shooting still images or Full HD video, you will be rewarded with incredible image detail and ultra-low picture noise – even in low light conditions.
Both Cyber-shot models introduce the brand-new ‘Clear Image Zoom’ that boosts magnification without lowering pixel count in the final image. Exclusive to Sony, ‘By Pixel Super Resolution’ processing further extends the camera’s 5x optical zoom range, allowing full-resolution 16.2 megapixel images with a maximum 10x zoom.
‘By Pixel Super Resolution’ technology also significantly boosts still image quality during movie recording. At a touch of the shutter button, ‘Dual Rec’ grabs detail-packed 12 megapixel-level still photos without interrupting Full HD video shooting.
Newly enhanced with additional electronic image stabilisation for vertical and horizontal handshake correction, the SteadyShot Active Mode compensates for handheld camera movements during Full HD video shooting. You’ll enjoy crisper, blur-free movie clips at all zoom settings, even if you’re holding the camera while walking.
Intelligent Sweep Panorama also features HR (High Resolution) mode, letting you capture breath-taking 42.9 megapixel panoramas. Just sweep the camera: then enjoy the results on your connected HD TV, or zoom in with PlayStation 3 to reveal the finest details.
3D Still Image captures dramatic 3D photos without needing a big, bulky camera with stereoscopic lenses. Just press the shutter button once: 3D Still Image grabs a pair of frames in quick succession, estimating depth information to create a dramatic three-dimensional still image. Other 3D shooting options include 3D Sweep Panorama and Sweep Multi Angle.

Camcorder battery Usage Maintance by bestlaptopbatteryuk

1) A new camcorder battery comes in a discharged condition and must be charged before use (refer to the devices manual for charging instructions). Upon initial use (or after a prolonged storage period) the digital camcorder battery may require three to four charge/discharge cycles before achieving maximum capacity.

Cheap Jvc BN-VF823 battery
When charging the camcorder battery for the first time the device may indicate that charging is complete after just 10 or 15 minutes. This is a normal phenomenon with rechargeable batteries. Remove the digital camcorder battery from the device, reinsert it and repeat the charging procedure.
2) It is important to condition (fully discharge and then fully charge) the camcorder battery every two to three weeks. Failure to do so may significantly shorten the battery’s life (this does not apply to Li-Ion batteries, which do not require conditioning). To discharge, simply run the device under the digital camcorder battery’s power until it shuts down or until you get a low battery warning. Then recharge the battery as instructed in the user’s manual.
3) If the camcorder battery will not be in use for a month or longer, it is recommended that digital camcorder battery be removed from the device and stored in a cool, dry, clean place.
4) The milliamp-hour (mAh) rating of the Hi-CapacityT camcorder battery will often be higher than the one on the original battery. A higher mAh rating is indicative of a longer lasting (higher capacity) battery and will not cause any incompatibilities. A Hi-CapacityT digital camcorder battery will, in most cases, outperform the original by 30% to 50%.
5) New camcorder needs to be fully charged and discharged (cycled) a few times before it can condition to full capacity. Rechargeable batteries undergo self-discharging when left unused. Always store a digital camcorder in a fully charged staged for storage.
6) Don’t short circuit terminal or store your digital camcorder with metal parts. Don’t connect and disconnect the camcorder within a short interval to prevent irregular charging of the rechargeable battery.

7) It’s okay to use different brands of digital camera batteries in the same device — for example, Energizer, Duracell, and generic. Voltage is voltage, and the device neither knows nor cares that made the camera batteries you put in it. Remember, you can mix brands but not types Camera Batteries self-discharge quicker when it’s hot. They’re fine at room temperature, but once it’s over 90o or so, they’ll start losing their charge faster. So don’t leave digital camcorder in a hot car.

Oracle has made 168 infringement claims against Google to on seven patents

Oracle’s patent infringement suit against Google over the Java implementation in Android may be facing a significant setback: of the 21 patents Oracle claims Google is violating, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rejected 17 claims on re-examination. As a result, the judge in the case has asked both Oracle and Google to reduce the number of claims they are making against each other in order to avoid wasting the court’s time on patents that will likely be ruled invalid or uninfringed.
Oracle has not yet indicated how it intends to proceed in the case, but options include appealing the patent re-examination, reducing the number of claims it is making against Google. Earlier this month, Oracle began to describe the damages it aims to collect from Google in the case: one court filing estimates the damages at over $6 billion. Google has disputed the manner in which Oracle arrived at its figures.
Oracle filed suit against Google last year over alleged patent violation in the Java virtual machine used in Android. Google maintains it has done nothing wrong.
Overall, Oracle has made 168 infringement claims against Google to on seven patents. The USPTO’s process is ongoing.
Oracle's case against Google is that it infringed seven of its patents relating to the Java VM and originally it made a total of 168 claims. As well as preparing to battle this out in court, Google requested the US Patent and Trademark Office to re-examine the seven patents involved.
The USPTO has now completed its reexamination of Patent Number 6192476 and dismissed all but four of Oracle's claims. In the case of the other two patents so far re-examined all the claims subject to re-examination were rejected but some of the claims asserted by Oracle were not subject to re-examination. The current tally is that 92% of the re-examined claims have been thrown out. According to Groklaw, the source of these figures, this is:consistent with reexamination stats that have been produced in academic studies showing 90+% of claims being rejected on reexam

Groklaw continues:
If that stat [92%] holds for the remaining four patents, Oracle will only have about 48 claims out of 168 that survive, and not all of those will be independent claims [NB: A dependent claim that survives is not worth much if its associated independent claim does not survive. The real value in these patents is in their independent claims.
So Oracle has a dilemma.
Judge Alsup had ordered it to reduce the number of claims to a "triable" number and set that at 3, with the rider that the asserted claims not being tried could not be renewed. When Oracle demurred and argued that it wanted to assert at least one claim per patent the Judge postponed the decision about how many claims to try until the pre-trial conference but also raised the issue of delaying the trial until the patent re-examination was complete.

Why are Android tablets tanking while Android smartphones explode?

Sony once again announced its Android tablets this week, joining pretty much every major PC maker in announcing -- but not actually shipping -- Android tablets based on the Google Android "Honeycomb" 3.0 OS. The same week, yet another investor analyst reported that sales of the first Honeycomb tablet, the respectable Motorola Mobility Xoom, may have sold as few as 25,000 units. (Motorola Mobility says it shipped 250,000, but that means how many it sent to stores, not how many they sold.) Compare this number to 2.5 million sold in a shorter period for the iPad 2, which Apple could not make enough of and, thus, sold fewer than expected. One particularly vulturish investment analyst even suggested Motorola start suing other Android makers over patents to make money, rather than rely on the sales of Android tablets themselves.
Meanwhile, sales of Android smartphones continued to surge; most analyst firms predicted Android handsets will account for half of all smartphone sales in the United States by year's end, up from about 30 percent today, and become the undisputed smartphone champ. The iPhone, by contrast, would remain flat and account for around 25 to 30 percent of smartphones sold, RIM BlackBerrys Hp 2230s battery,Hp 530 Battery,Hp dv6000 Batterywould be in the 10 to 15 percent range, and everyone else would be irrelevant. Even enterprises are predicted to see an Android smartphone majority this year.
Why are Android tablets tanking while Android smartphones explode? You can't just blame the iPad, because the iPhone isn't enjoying the same relative success against Android smartphones as the iPad is against the Xoom. Yet, generally speaking, the quality gap is no different.
There are several theories floating around, none satisfying given the huge Android fan base, the large number of Apple haters out there, and the lack of other tablets to choose instead. Face it -- hardly anyone will choose the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook given how disastrous that product turned out to be, and you don't see any evidence that people are rethinking their aversion to Windows tablets.
One theory is that the iPad 2 is so obviously superior that no one -- not even a fandroid -- can resist the Apple tablet. Superior it is, but fanboys are by definition hard-core devotees, not fair-weather friends. I just don't see a massive religious conversion occurring, especially among those who have legitimate issues with Apple's control over the platform and users (via iTunes and the App Store). Meanwhile, these same folks remain in thrall to every Android smartphone rumor, as Apple fanboys are to iPhone rumors.
Another theory is they're waiting for the flood of promised Android tablets before they put down Hp pavilion dv7 battery their $500 to $900. Maybe, but there should be a lot more fandroids willing to get the first, respectable Android tablet today (the $600 Xoom) rather than wait until summer or fall for the promised devices -- especially considering the similarity in their specs.
A third theory is that Apple sneakily bought up all the key components at discount in its confidence about the iPad 2's success. As a result, Android makers and other competitors are forced to charge more than Apple for feature-equivalent products -- forcing users to wait until prices are more closely aligned.
A fourth theory is that would-be Android tablet buyers are simply slower on the draw than iPad buyers. They didn't jump onto iPhones in that device's first three years but waited until Year 4 (2010) of the smartphone phenomenon to join in. They'll wait out another stretch before buying a tablet because it's still too early to go there.
Google's own behavior may encourage such slow motion: It made devicemakers wait Compaq 484170-001 battery,Hp dv9000 Battery a year after the iPad to get its own tablet OS, causing many vendors to release ill-advised smartphone-based devices for the holidays. Even now, its pace is glacial in updating and releasing Honeycomb. Google has also made no effort to outflank Apple, following Apple's lead in almost every area instead (voice-based search and navigation being the major exceptions).

Tips for increasing Camera’s Battery Life

Ever since cameras started to sport built-in light meters, batteries have become necessary in order to make them portable. Indeed a camera can be operated completely mechanically, no need for batteries. Older cameras had a manual or mechanical setting that required no batteries for operation. You had no light meter to guide you but at least you could get the shot when your batteries were depleted. The film would be advanced and the shutter cocked manually by cranking a lever usually positioned above the right hand thumb.
  camcorder battery
Well, those days are long forgotten. There is no single camera today that I know of that is fully mechanical with no need for Canon BP-808 Battery,Canon BP-810 Battery. Since Digital cameras are standard fare, batteries are necessary for the capture of the data, the computer inside that converts light into data, and battery life is as important as having an empty memory card to record the images.

Some Background

This short article could never do justice to the development of modern day batteries. But it is worth noting that batteries have evolved from their most basic form to the ultra-high performance batteries we use today in around the last 100 years. Early batteries consisted of very large plates of metal and baths of chemicals which would be considered mediaeval by today’s standards. However the principles are still the same no matter what technology is used.

Technology

The earliest batteries were not rechargeable. We take for granted that our batteries today can be re-used many times over. Once the battery was drained, it would become unusable. The first rechargeable battery was invented around the 1850s and was of the lead-acid type, still used today in most automobiles.
Dry batteries were invented in the 1880s and are the type used by most portable electronics. Huge advancements in battery technology in recent years have yielded smaller and longer lasting yet re-usable Toshiba pa3534u-1brs Battery.
The two most important battery technologies today are NiMH (Nickel Metal-Hydride) and Li-ion  (Lithium-Ion). The two technologies are very similar in their resulting capacities and energy output with minor differences in how they discharge. Lithium-ion batteries are the most effective batteries today as lithium has the lowest density of any of the metals on the periodic table and it is also the lightest metal. Interestingly for us, lithium is used in strengthening alloys used in airplanes.

So what about my camera?

Hopefully I have not bored you to death. Let’s talk about what are the common types of batteries used in cameras today.
NiCd
Some camera manufacturers still use (NiCd) Nickel-Cadmium rechargeable batteries. NiCd batteries dominated the landscape of modern electronics rechargeable batteries. The main advantage of this type of battery is the high current drain it is capable of withstanding. NiCd batteries are commonly used in applications requiring sudden high bursts of energy such as motors. NiCd
Toshiba pa3536u-1brs Batteries,Toshiba pa3534u-1bas battery are also widely available and prices have dropped considerably in the last few years. Negative traits such as “memory effect” and temperature sensitivity have caused manufacturers to select newer more expensive technologies.
Memory effect
A NiCd battery can exhibit this effect when charged and discharged numerous times to the same charge state (both depleted and charged). If discharged to a certain level and not fully drained, as the battery reaches the last drainage level it will show a decrease in output voltage. This means the device being powered can suddenly stop operating.
Temperature sensitivity
This is a two-fold problem. NiCd batteries perform poorly as temperature increases. The chemical reaction of the Cadmium and Nickel produces more heat as more current is needed. This can lead to battery damage and even fire and destruction of the device being powered.
The use of Cadmium is also not good for the environment. Cadmium is a heavy toxic metal which must be disposed of carefully.
NiMH
Most consumer cameras today use NiMH batteries. This technology literally eliminates the drawbacks of NiCd technology by having no adverse memory-effect and can also withstand higher temperatures without damage. However the cost of NiMH batteries is higher due to the cost of the metals used.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Nickel Metal-Hydride batteries also have a higher energy to density ratio which means you get higher capacity in the same space. They also have a better discharge curve than NiCd and Alkaline batteries especially under high current drain. NiMH batteries also have a longer lifespan than NiCds and are safer for the environment. NiMH is currently the most widely used high end battery technology, widely used now in modern Digital Cameras and Electric Vehicles.
Some disadvantages are a higher self-drain rate than NiCds and when over-discharged, polarity reversal can occur damaging the battery and causing it to fail permanently.
Li-ion
Lithium-Ion technology is by far the most advanced battery technology today. HP pavilion dv1000 Battery,Dell inspiron mini 9 Battery have higher capacity, no memory effect, rechargeable over a longer lifespan and are more durable than any other technology. The only disadvantage being a much higher cost than competing technologies.
It is more widely used in small electronic devices such as cell phones due to the smaller sizes and the need for longer battery life in the smallest possible space.

Maximizing your batteries performance

So what about my batteries? As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, running out of battery power during an outing can be really depressing. Whether you find yourself with a single battery and no spares or you only own one battery of not-so-high capacity, there are things you can do to make the charge last longer:
•    If your camera has an “Auto Power Saving” mode, use it. Make sure you know how it works in case it reduces performance in a way that will hamper your ability to take pictures in a particular situation. If your camera offers Live View, do not use it. Use the Optical Viewfinder; you’ll get a more realistic view of the scene anyway.
•    Disable any automatic settings you do not need. Anything that says automatic usually means a drain on the battery, even if a small amount, every bit counts.
•    Most cameras will use the battery when turned off. You should take out the battery if you’re not going to use the camera for a long time.
•    Turn off vibration reduction on your lens if possible. You really don’t need it if your shutter speeds are above 1/800th sec anyway.
•    If you’re desperate, turn off auto-focus. Use Gaffer’s tape to lock down the focus ring at infinity. If the airplanes are far enough, you’re shooting at infinity anyway.
•    Use Silent Wave of Ultra Sonic auto-focus lenses when possible. Sony calls their technology “Super Sonic Motor”. These Auto-Focus lenses without a built in motor use the camera’s internal focus motor and put a much higher drain on your battery.
Usually a new Camcorder Battery comes in a discharged condition and it must be charged before use (refer to your computer manual for charging instructions). Upon initial use (or after a prolonged storage period) the Camcorder battery may require two to three charge/discharge cycles before achieving maximum capacity.
Use a full charge cycle before recharging. All Camcorder batteries in our site are Hp 2230s battery,Compaq nc6400 battery, so, they do not have memory which you might find in NiCad batteries. However, each chemistry has a limited number of charge cycles, so use a full charge cycle before re-charging to maximize your battery's usage. When charging your battery for the first time, your computer may indicate that charging is complete just after 10 or 15 minutes. Don't worry, this is normal with rechargeable batteries. Just simply remove the Camcorder battery from the Camcorder and repeat the charging procedure.
Try To avoid over-charging, especially, do not let your Camcorder battery over discharged. It is normal for Camcorder notebook battery to become warm when it's charged and used. The battery exhaust much faster under the high temperature, you should avoid using your Camcorder battery in shady and cool place. Hit the battery, and other acts will also accelerate depletion of battery. So, pay attention to your battery as much as possible.

Camera Battery Charger Tips Consider Before you buy a charger

Digital cameras come with two kinds of batteries – the cheaper ones have Canon batteries while the more expensive ones come with the Lithium ion kind and its own charger. With the former option, you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on replacing your batteries every now and then, so you invest in the rechargeable kind. Now the only thing you have to do is find a good charger for your batteries and you can put your worries aside.
  Digital Camera battery
Besides obvious use in digital cameras, rechargeable batteries are of great use in other camera accessories. I personally charger around 16 AA NiMH batteries a day, for use in my lightning kit – which includes 4 speedlights. So, charger is an important accessory for any photographer with any amount of camera gear.
  1. If you’re looking to replace your original charger, the one that came with your camera, look for the same brand from your camera manufacturer’s site, or choose an equivalent from a third party vendor after checking specifications and reviews to ensure that your battery will be charged effectively. It’s best to buy direct from a store rather than online because you can test out the product before taking it home.
  2. Otherwise, if you want a charger for your Canon BP-810 Battery,Canon BP-809 Battery, first check for compatibility with your batteries.
  3. Decide if you want a charger that can hold four or more batteries – if you use your camera frequently, you might want to keep a spare set handy and so invest in a charger that can handle 6 or more batteries in one go.
  4. If you travel the globe, check if your charger has adapters that plug into both 110 and 220 volt outlets.
  5. If you’re not comfortable with chargers that plug directly into the wall, choose one that has a cord and connects to the power outlet through an AC adapter.
  6. Buy a charger that switches off automatically when your batteries are fully charged.
  7. Read reviews before you buy to ensure that you buy a charger that charges in the fastest possible time. These will cost more, so if you’re not too particular about charging speed, go in for the cheaper versions. Also, never invest in “quick” recharges that are under an hour; these charges never last long and your batteries don’t remain in peak condition. In general, most good chargers take between 2 and 7 hours to charge your Olympus PS-BLS1 batterycompletely.
  8. Some chargers come with displays that show you the values of charging current, discharging current, time elapsed, accumulated capacity and terminal voltage. So if you’re interested and don’t mind paying the price, go for one of these models.
Usually a new Digital Camera Battery comes in a discharged condition and it must be charged before use (refer to your computer manual for charging instructions).
