This wasn't a bad time for the Red Sox to roll into the Bronx. The Yankees needed something to jolt them out of a haze of careless errors and rafts of runners left in scoring position.
"Well, that is my hope. That we start playing better baseball," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said as Boston arrived for a three-game series. "The Red Sox are obviously a very talented team and we're hoping it brings out the best in us.
"We have not played very well in the last week-and-a-half, two weeks."
Girardi's club had lost six of its last nine games entering Friday night, and the Yanks had committed 12 errors in their last seven games – not to mention a few baserunning blunders and defensive lapses that fail to appear in box scores.
"We're not firing on all cylinders either," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said.
But at least the Red Sox had rebounded from their dreadful start, with Adrian Gonzalez mashing the ball and Carl Crawford finally starting to hit his stride.
The Red Sox were 0-6 to start the season, until the Yankees arrived at Fenway Park and dropped two of three games. Whether or not the Yanks helped light that spark under the Red Sox, the atmosphere generated by the rivalry might serve to shake either club out of a fog.Cheap Dell 6400 Battery, , Dell d830 Batteries
"Anytime you add what these two teams bring when they're on the field together — from the fans, to the excitement and all that comes with this — that stuff makes the game," Jason Varitek said. "Can you raise your level of play? I'm not sure, but all that can certainly help."
The Yankees failed to help themselves in losing two of three games against the Royals. In Wednesday's extra-inning loss, the Yanks left 15 men on base and were 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position. Thursday's loss featured two errors in Kansas City's six-run second inning.
"Sometimes they're just physical errors. Sometimes guys can be frustrated about the way their season's going, or their at-bats that day — it can be a number of different things," Girardi said in a general response to the club's recent lapses.
Mostly, Girardi felt it might be caused by a player being overanxious to make something happen.
"You try to diagnose every [poor play] and why it happened," Girardi said. "But I don't think any of us can exactly tell where it stems from."
Still, the manager did not push the issue under the clubhouse rug.
"We talked on Sunday," Girardi said of addressing the state of the Yankees play while in Texas, where they concluded a 3-4 road trip.
"I think all of our guys know what it takes," Girardi said. "You can't just try to get through months. You have to take advantage of each month in front of you."
That's exactly the big-picture view the Red Sox forced themselves to reexamine in early April.
"We stunk at pitching. We stunk at hitting. And we didn't field the ball so well," Varitek said. "You mix in some quality starts, all of a sudden your offense gets going and you start playing with a little more confidence."
And though the spotlight is a little harsher this weekend, "We don't get extra credit for winning a game here," Francona said.

How long can we expect the iPad 3 to last on a single charge?

Expectations for the iPad 3 are that it will be even more powerful than the iPad 2, with a stunning new iPhone 4-style Retina display. Will this have an effect on the iPad’s renowned battery life? How long can we expect the iPad 3 to last on a single charge?
Slimming down
Apple’s iPad 2 made a number of improvements to the original iPad format, with a more powerful processor and slimmer form factor. It achieved all this while maintaining the original device’s impressive 10 hour battery life.
You might have expected Apple to achieve such parity on a much more powerful unit by upping the size of the battery unit, but the startling fact is the iPad 2 battery( Hp 530 BatteriesHp 510 BatteryMitac bp-8050 Battery) is 59 per cent smaller than the iPad equivalent.
IHS iSuppli carried out a teardown of the iPad 2 to establish how Apple had made it so slim. The main reason cited was the aforementioned reduction in battery size, which the tech researcher puts down to “a major shift” in battery design. It explains that “Apple moved from two thicker cells to three thinner ones, flattening out the entire battery structure.”
In addition to this, Apple has patented a method for packing in more active material into its batteries, boosting durability without increasing the physical size. This all goes to show that Apple is investing as much attention into battery tech as it is screen or processor tech. Could we see the pattern continue in the iPad 3 with an even more efficient four-cell battery?
Unique demands
As we’ve discussed previously, the common consensus among experts is that the iPad 3 will boast much improved screen technology that will feature a clearer and sharper display. To put it bluntly, it’ll be a 9.7-inch Retina display. This might suggest to you that any advantage gained by a superior battery will be lost pumping out those extra pixels, but that’s not necessarily the case.
Screen tech site DisplayMate carried out a test that compared the iPhone 4′s Retina display with the lower res screens of the Samsung Galaxy S, Motorola Droid, iPhone 3GS and Google Nexus One. It found that the iPhone 4′s screen “is the most power efficient of the displays,” which backs up Apple‘s claims that the technology is extremely easy on the battery.
The same can be said of Apple’s processor tech. There’s a fair chance the iPad 3′s chipset (let’s call it the A6) will be quad-core, boosting the tablet’s capabilities significantly. This needn’t be the huge battery drain that it suggests though. As we’ve mentioned Hp dv6000 BatteryHp dv2000 Battery before, the iPad 2′s dual-core A5 manages its power usage much more efficiently than the original iPad’s single-core A4, intelligently adjusting its clock speed (and thus power usage) according to the application.
So how long will it last?
Based on the above hints and the precedent set by Apple’s previous devices, we’d guess that the iPad 3′s battery life will see only modest gains as Apple looks to create a more powerful and even slimmer tablet device. Apple has always been about balance, and it appears to be happy with the iPad and iPad 2′s 10 hour battery life – it will be happy if it can maintain that figure in the face of notable improvements elsewhere.

Top Tips for Swapping Batteries by bestlaptopbattery.co.uk

One hundred miles. That’s the range of most electric cars, and if you want to go further, take the gas guzzler. But there’s a controversial alternative that can turn range-anxiety vehicles into range champs: battery switching. Suppose you could drive 100 miles, take a quick detour into a switching station (five minutes or less), and take off again with a fresh pack? It’s more than possible — the technology is here now.
First championed by charging company Better Place in its bid to wire Israel, battery switching still induces much skepticism among automakers, and only Renault among mainstream automakers has embraced it (in Renault Fluence Z.E. cars for its partnership with Better Place). But Tesla is also planning switchable batteries for its new Model S electric sedan. That plan came under discussionAsus batel80l9 batteryDell studio 1537 battery recently at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Revenge of the Electric Car, which was followed by a panel that included Elon Musk of Tesla, Carlos Ghosn of Nissan, Dan Neil (a Wall Street Journal auto writer heavily featured in the film) and the filmmaker, Chris Paine.

The Model S will actually be introduced in a model with a huge battery pack (as much as 95 kilowatt hours) intended for 300 miles on a charge. That one won’t need to switch batteries too often, but there are two other editions with 160 and 230-mile range that could take advantage.
“We’re designing the Model S to have switchable batteries,” said Musk, who has a solution to the problem of consumers not wanting to end up with an unknown pack in their expensive EV. “When people take an occasional two-way long-distance trip, they’ll get a replacement pack and then pick up their original one on the way back. The issue of giving up your one-year-old pack for a three-year-old-one goes away.”
I like that concept, for exactly the reasons Musk states. If I’d spent $77,400 on a Signature Edition Tesla Model S, I think I’d want to keep track of its ultra-expensive battery pack. Would you calmly swap engines on your Porsche?
Neil is skeptical that swapping is viable. “The battery is the most expensive part of the car,” he said. “Does it really make economic sense to have these valuable packs lying around?”
Ghosn countered that it’s no longer a question of “if” when it comes to swappable batteries. “Come to Israel and see for yourself,” he said. “In June we’ll be rolling it out on a massive scale.” Better Place has committed to buy 100,000 of the switchable-pack Renault cars, which are already on the ground in Denmark.
I know that battery switching works, because I saw Better Place do it in less than a minute in Tokyo with Nissan EVs. It’s completely automated, and very impressive Toshiba Pa3356u-3bas Batteries,Dell latitude e6400 battery to see. My personal view, though, is that it works best for single-model fleets such as taxis, buses or rental companies. There’s a central depot that could double as a switching station, and — best of all — one battery pack to stock, instead of the plethora that will be on the road in a few years.

Tips for cheap to recycle green batteries

Lithium-ion batteries are a major step up from conventional batteries, but there is currently little economic incentive to recycle their lithium — and that’s the necessary final step in a “green” vehicle, according to global business research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan.
Is your laptop starting to feel more like a desktop, constantly needing to be plugged in and recharged? This is a classic sign of capacity loss, where batteries become increasingly unable to carry a charge. Unfortunately, battery degradation is unavoidable. All batteries have a lifespan, and with a life expectancy of 2-4 years, the Lithium-Ion laptop battery is no exception. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to slow the degradation process.
Lithium is a soft metal that has several uses, including medicine and nuclear energy.
The amount in an automotive battery depends on the power needed: around two kilograms for a plug-in hybrid, and around 10 kilograms for a pure-electric vehicle battery that produces more kilowatts, according to Aswin Kumar, automotive and transportation industry analyst for Frost & Sullivan. The lithium in a battery(Hp dv9000 BatteryHp dv9500 Batteries) is completely recyclable, but it’s currently not cost-effective.
“The recycled lithium costs as much as five times the cost of lithium produced from the least-priced brine-based process,” Kumar says.
“It is not competitive for the recycling companies to extract lithium from slag or com
etitive for the (manufacturers) to buy at higher price points from recycling companies.”
Right now, much of the value in recycling such batteries comes from other materials they contain, such as nickel and cobalt, which are priced much higher than lithium — but technology marches on.
“Future battery chemistries under research and development, such as phosphate or manganese-based  chemistries, have little or no valuable metals like cobalt or nickel,” Kumar says.
“Thus, there is a net negative value for recycling, as the effort to recycle only for lithium from these chemistries would be very high.”
Some newer battery technologies will require twice the amount of lithium as current batteries.
There’s enough lithium to meet global demand, but much of the readily-available metal is in countries that aren’t always politically stable, many of them in South America.
If the supply is disrupted, the major threat manufacturers face is the time it takes to get lithium (Hp dv6000 Battery,  hp nc6400 battery) to market from new mining resources, Kumar says.
He also notes that only a few producers control the market, with the top five accounting for 80 per cent of lithium production in 2009.
China, which has one of the world’s largest lithium reserves, is now ramping up production.
And although we have lots of it, Kumar warns that it should not be the sole future source of automotive power, and that research and development on other power sources is needed to avoid lithium dependency.
